Minimum Wage in Norway 2026

Important Note

Norway does not have a statutory national minimum wage. However, several sectors have legally binding minimum wage rates set through extended collective agreements (allmenngjorte tariffavtaler).

Typical Minimum (Hourly)

NOK 190-210

Typical Annual (37.5h/wk)

NOK ~370,000-410,000

Key Information

Extended Collective Agreements

Norway uses a system of “allmenngjoring” (general application) where the Tariff Board can extend collective agreement minimum wages to cover all workers in a sector, including non-unionized workers and foreign workers.

Sectors with Binding Minimums

Extended minimum rates apply in: construction, cleaning, hospitality, agriculture, fish processing, maritime construction, electrical work, and freight transport. Rates vary by sector, experience, and qualifications.

37.5-Hour Work Week

Norway's standard work week is 37.5 hours (1,950 hours per year). Many collective agreements provide for even shorter hours, particularly in shift work.

Holiday Pay (Feriepenger)

All employees are entitled to holiday pay (feriepenger) of at least 10.2% of gross salary (12% for workers over 60). This is saved from the previous year's earnings and paid out during the holiday period, effectively adding an extra month's pay.

Minimum wage sources and assumptions

Minimum wage pages use official labour and government publications, then convert hourly, monthly, and annual rates for comparison. This page was last reviewed for Norway 2026 data on April 27, 2026.

Calculation notes

  • Annual estimates assume the standard full-time hours shown on the page.
  • Some countries use collective agreements, age bands, sectors, or regions instead of a single national rate.
  • Displayed conversions are estimates and may exclude holiday allowance, 13th-month pay, or local supplements unless stated.
